TIME Magazine ranks UT Austin a top college for creating leaders

UT finished at No. 14, making it the third-highest ranking among public universities across the country.

AUSTIN, Texas — TIME Magazine released its rankings of the top 100 U.S. colleges for creating leaders, and the University of Texas at Austin finished with the highest score among schools in the Lone Star State.

UT finished at No. 14, making it the third-highest ranking among public universities across the country.

The list cites the McCombs School of Business and Texas Law as proof of the university’s leader-building abilities.

“What distinguishes these schools, experts say, is not necessarily that they teach students to be better leaders, but that alums receive more opportunities, and many companies have a vested interest in hiring them,” the ranking said. “Whatever a student may have learned at school, an elite diploma signals at least two things to prospective employers: survival of a difficult admissions process and a high likelihood of intelligence.”

TIME and Statista analyzed the resumes of 2,000 top leaders in the country to see where they earned their degrees. The leaders came from various sectors, including politics, business, unions and more.

UT Austin has made several top rankings recently, including as the 10th best public university in the country, with Austin ranking the best city for college students.
