Here are the North Texas school districts closed for the Rangers World Series parade

The Texas Rangers organization asked Arlington ISD band students to perform during the festivities, according to a new release from the district.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A win for the Texas Rangers is a win for North Texas as a whole, but their World Series victory is a big win for students and staff at multiple local school districts.

The Arlington, Mansfield, Everman, Grand Prairie, Irving, Crowley, and Kennedale school districts all announced that they will be closed on Friday so everyone can celebrate the Rangers' World Series victory. Offices will be closed and all classes will be canceled.

All sporting events for Friday will continue as scheduled, according to Arlington and Mansfield. Full details weren't yet available for the other four districts, but they confirmed school is canceled Friday. Irving officials said April 1 would serve as a makeup day for students.

Everman's statement cited "staffing shortages throughout the district," then said, "Congratulations Texas Rangers!!!!"

Notably, Dallas, Fort Worth and Keller ISD all said they planned to keep their schools open on Friday.

“This is the first championship win for the Rangers in their history,” said Dr. Steven Wurtz, interim superintendent of Arlington ISD. “It’s a huge day for sports fans,  and we’re excited to celebrate with the team and the community.”

Wurtz also mentioned that traffic issues are expected during the Rangers celebrations, which would make commutes to and from school difficult.

According to Arlington ISD, the district's marching band were asked to perform during the Rangers' festivities. Band students from all six traditional high schools will come together as one band for Friday.

“We are thrilled about this opportunity for our students,” said Wurtz. “They are so talented and everyone will know that after they see them perform at the parade.”
