KIRBY, Texas - The Texas Department of Public Safety said Texas 10 Most Wanted sex offender Jose Julio Arce Jr., 56, was arrested Wednesday in Kirby.

DPS said a special agent and a deputy from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office found Arce at a residence in Kirby based off of "investigative information." He was reportedly arrested without incident.

In 1999, Arce was convicted of the aggravated sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl in Bexar County. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He had been wanted since July 2016.

His arrest marks the first arrest in the Texas 10 Most Wanted program for 2017, according to DPS.

Texas Crime Stoppers also reminded the public that the program offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders.

"Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives. They are considered armed and dangerous," DPS said in a media release.
