Arrest made in connection to mother and son shot driving into an apartment complex, teen still in critical condition

Investigators say the woman was at the gate of the apartment complex when her car was shot at.

SAN ANTONIO — An arrest has been made in connection to a 15-year-old boy being sent to the hospital in critical condition after he and his mom were shot at while driving into an apartment complex on the west side back in February.

Police said they believe there are two suspects who fired shots but were able to arrest one of them two hours after obtaining an arrest warrant on Friday.

The suspect they arrested was identified as Zakar Polk.

The incident occurred at the Haven at Westover Hills around 10 p.m. on Feb. 22.

Investigators say the woman was at the gate of an apartment complex when her car was shot at.

The woman's teenage son was shot in the head after a gun was fired from a man standing outside with a group of people near the front office, according to SAPD. The woman drove off after her son was shot.

The teen is reportedly still in critical condition.

Police are looking for at least five people involved in the shooting. The mother was not injured in the shooting.

If you know anything, give police a call to their homicide unit at (210) 207-7635.

Polk is set for a preliminary hearing in court on April 23.

This is a developing story.
