SAN ANTONIO - Just before Carlo's Bakery opened its doors at the Shops at La Cantera, "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro hosted an official grand opening event at nearby Buddy V's Ristorante.
The boss himself gave KENS 5 a tour of the Italian restaurant and kitchen.
"San Antonio has been a great community for us. When we spoke about it, we wanted to come here in a big way. We wanted to come not only with a bakery, but with a restaurant," Valastro said.

The menu is inspired by family recipes.
"This is totally a dream for the family, to not only have bakeries but also have Italian restaurants. It's accessible Italian," Valastro said.

While the restaurant opened to the public in Jan. 2018, the famiglia wanted to host an event in conjunction with the bakery's opening on March 24.
"I don't hide the fact that I'm the Cake Boss. You'll see some whisk lighting, and you'll see some cakes," Valastro said.
That of course includes an Alamo replica cake that has been widely shared on social media.
"Now you're part of my famiglia. You're sitting at my table, baby," Valastro said.
