SAN ANTONIO - Texas Monthly released its list of the best Barbecue joints across the state and San Antonio chefs feel like they've been snubbed.
For years, Texas Monthly magazine has fabricated ‘The Top 50 Barbecue Joints in Texas’ list.
As Texas continues to grow, barbecue joints keep popping up. But for years, the same ones kept their bragging rights like Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Gatlin's BBQ in Houston, and The Granary'Cue and Brew right here in San Antonio.
Along with a handful of joints in smaller cities like Lockhart, which at one point was the barbecue capital, this year only one shop from Lockhart made the list. Others on the list included four joints from Houston, seven from Austin, and only two from San Antonio made the cut.
This left celebrity Chef Jason Dady's Two Bro's BBQ Market off the list. But don’t worry, Dady turned to Facebook and assures the community his barbecue has never been better.
As far as the two San Antonio barbecue joints that made the 2017 list, 2M Smokehouse and The Granary'Cue and Brew still represent.
