Man's arm severed after pickup truck rolls several times, police say

Police say the glass from the broken window sliced the truck driver's arm completely off.

SAN ANTONIO — A man's arm was severed in an accident late Friday night on the northwest side, according to police.

It happened at Callaghan and Viva Max around 11:45 p.m.

Police say a car was stopped at a red light when it was rear-ended by a truck. The truck rolled several times.

Police say the glass from the broken window sliced the truck driver's arm completely off. The truck driver and his arm were rushed to University Hospital.

Alcohol was reportedly a factor in the crash and the pickup truck driver could face DWI charges.

The driver of the car that was rear-ended was not taken to the hospital, but police say he later went to the hospital on his own. There is no word on his condition.
