KENS 5 Eyewitness: Icy conditions, outages blanket New Braunfels

Many residents are seeing power go in and out due to the rolling outages that are taking place, according to New Braunfels Utilities.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — People in New Braunfels saw anywhere from seven to ten inches of snow in the last few days.

A lot of that snow is still on the ground. However, the sun has been out for most of the day, and that has really helped in terms of melting a lot of the snow.

We are seeing it on the roads where the roads are starting to clear up a little bit. But that snow is now just turning into mush.

Tonight, we’re expecting the weather to be rough again and create icy conditions, so we’re not out of the woods just yet. Authorities are still encouraging people to stay off the roads.

Now, a lot of residents are seeing power go in and out due to the rolling outages that are taking place, according to New Braunfels Utilities.

Also in the area, some may be experiencing a lack of water coming from the pipes. So, a hack? People have melted snow collected in buckets and thrown it into a toilet so they can flush.

But, conditions in New Braunfels appear to be improving some as the sun continues to melt the snow. However, our KENS 5 Weather Team does not expect things to get much better until later on in the week.
