SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio hit record setting warmth in December as temperatures continued to stay above average reaching weather milestones before the end of 2021. 

Days above average:

San Antonio failed to gain many strong cold fronts leading the city to hit 27 days above average last month. On Dec. 1 San Antonio reached 76 degrees and 83 degrees on Dec. 31. 

The average high for the month of December is around 63 degrees. Therefore, San Antonio was 20 degrees above average on Dec. 31.

Only 4 days in the month of December temperatures stayed below average. The coldest day last month was 52 degrees. 

80 degree days:

December 2021 topped the charts for San Antonio with 7 days reaching a high temperatures of 80 degrees or more. 

The last time San Antonio reached this record was back in 1939.

More recently, December 2007 San Antonio made the list with 6 days of 80 degrees or more. 

Warmest Decembers:

San Antonio ranked number two in the list of top 5 warmest Decembers on record.  

The average temperature of December 2021 was around 64 degrees just two degrees behind the number one spot on the list set back in 1889 when the December average temperature was 66 degrees.
