NEW ORLEANS — A far more spring-like day with afternoon highs in the low 70s and more humid. Not muggy, but noticeably more humid. Overnight lows only in the 40s and 50s with increasing clouds as a weak cold front moves through. Not a huge drop in temperatures as highs will climb to the mid to upper 60s as there is no upper level support for a colder air mass. We're back into the low 70s Thursday and a 60% chance for showers Friday as a stronger cold front slowly moves into the area. Highs Saturday in the low 60s and back to the 70s Sunday and Monday. The pattern shift we're seeing to close out January is one that keeps the coldest air well north and a more active upper pattern for us with regards to disturbances moving through and triggering rainfall seemingly every other day. This will take us almost to February.
