SAN ANTONIO — As more kids go back to school, you should be ready to pack a water bottle in their backpack! It will be a hot day with a high close to 100 and a heat index of 105.

The upper high will keep the heatwave going over the next several days, but the ridge should weaken by the weekend with a 20% chance of rain.

As the ridge weakens, scattered rain should develop late this week into early next week. The Aquifer continues to drop.

Today: AM clouds then partly cloudy. High 99°

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low 77°

Tomorrow: AM clouds then mostly sunny, High 99°

Tropics:

An area of low pressure 100 miles east of Norfolk, VA has a lower chance of developing as it moves away from the United States. Still some heavy rainfall around this disturbance, but it will have a tough time trying to organize as it moves into an environment with high wind shear.

Euro model continues to show some tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico next weekend. Mainly heavy rain hugging the Gulf Coast. It’s not as organized as previous weather model updates, but still something to watch.
