Storm chances increase Monday ahead of a few days of rain | FORECAST

Expect cloud cover all day with a few breaks in the sky. Otherwise, it'll be cool and breezy with winds up to 25 MPH.

SAN ANTONIO — Highs were in the 80s Sunday! It's been a nice break from record heat this month. 

The front that pushed through overnight will retreat north over San Antonio Monday. This will surge in humidity and cloud cover.

A few breaks in the sky during the afternoon with highs below normal in the lower-middle 80s.

As this front moves overhead, only a scattering of rain through Monday afternoon.

The severe threat arrives in the evening and late night. 

Storms will develop and strengthen out west around 5-7 PM and gradually moves eastward across South Texas. Some model guidance brings severe storms into San Antonio around 8-10 PM. Some guidance holds off until after midnight. Regardless, it will be a late-night threat.

SPC has placed us in a slight risk. A level 2 out of 5. Storms that strengthen will be capable of large hail, damaging winds, and some rotation. Same setup for Tuesday.

The severe threat drops Tuesday morning and returns Tuesday evening where the same setup will be in place. Some evening and late-night thunderstorms.

Forecast rain totals will range from 1" - 3" through Wednesday night. 

Rain exits pre-dawn Thursday with a warming and sunny pattern in place for Memeorial Day weekend!

Temperatures should rebound into the lower 90s by Saturday and Sunday.
