You know all about regular lightning. But what about lightning erupting from a volcano?

Taal Volcano was spewing more than lava after erupting last weekend over the Philippines.

SAN ANTONIO — On Sunday the Taal Volcano in the Philippines erupted, sending ash and smoke miles up into the sky, according to NASA. 

Thousands of residents were ordered to evacuate in high-risk areas around Taal Volcano. As stated by OCHA, 459,300 are potentially affected and 43,600 people are in evacuation centers. The Taal Volcano caused $11.3 million in damage to agriculture in the Philippines. 

But the event also made for some spectacular spectacle. Jaw-dropping pictures of lightning around the volcano were taken several minutes after the eruption, making for an eerie scene.
