The battle for the NCAA Championship hasn't been the only one over the past few days.

San Antonio has been involved in its own form of parking wars with outrageous prices and people breaking the law to make a buck.

"If you want to park close you are going to pay," said Ted Wiese, who was in town from Dripping Springs. I told him about the Bill Miller BBQ right across the street from the Alamodome selling parking spots for $50 during the semifinals. They say they'll be doing it tonight too.

Michael Pierce from San Antonio said, "It's ridiculous. I can't believe places like this charge $50 for parking." He wouldn't pay that much to park there but understands why people do. "If you are right across the street from the Alamodome it's pretty convenient," said Pierce.

The highest price we've seen so far is quite a jump from the $20 parking for 12 hours at the Park One lot just off of Houston Street. The Marriott was charging $100!

Michigan fan Maria from Detroit was shocked. She said, "That's ridiculous. I know they were selling pre-paid parking on stub hub for $45 for the day."

So were our other parking experts. Ted said, "Oh me? I wouldn't park there." Michael added, "Now that is ridiculous being so far away and it's not even right here. $100 is pretty steep."

Those who live by the Alamodome have even been selling parking spots in their driveways and front yards, breaking a city ordinance which is meant to protect the residential characters of the neighborhoods which are only zoned for residential use.

Maria told us, "If it's breaking the city ordinance, you probably shouldn't do it. I understand if it's a big event like this you are going to try to make some money."

What is Ted's word of advice for those who try to avoid these beefed up parking prices? He says, "San Antonio is pretty. We've been walking since probably 10:30 this morning and it's just a good place to come and walk."

Even though Bill Miller is charging $50 to park for the game, they do have two rows of spots reserved for dining guests who can park for free. Officers are there to make sure nobody breaks to rules.
