At the start of the 4th quarter of Game 4, the San Antonio Spurs looked doomed.
The Golden State Warriors had clawed their way back after facing deficits as big as 17 points in the first half to cut the lead down to two. And without Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs had struggled to close out games against teams far worse than the Warriors during the regular season. Just like Game 3, they were going to lose Game 4.
But Manu Ginobili wouldn’t let them.
In the final six minutes of the game, the Spurs scored 15 points; 10 of them were Manu’s, the other five were miracle shots from LaMarcus Aldridge including an off-balance contested three-pointer that he banked in and a sky-high floater.
Yes, those shots were amazing, but Spurs fans will remember this one for how Manu closed this one out at home, possibly for the last time at the AT&T Center. But thanks to his performance, it definitely wasn’t his last game. Game 5 is Tuesday night at Golden State.
