Spurs hit the road against best home team in NBA

San Antonio must figure out a way to steal a win in Denver to advance in the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

SAN ANTONIO — A big storyline entering the postseason series between San Antonio and Denver is whether or not the Spurs will be able to steal a win on the road. San Antonio boasts the worst record of any team in the Western Conference playoffs away from its home arena, while the Denver Nuggets have the best home record of anybody in the NBA.

The players know how difficult it is to play in the "Mile High City."

"You gotta give them credit. They're still a good team--they're still a great team, but as soon as you lay down and take a nap, you get up too fast and you start huffing and puffing because you're not used to the altitude," DeMar DeRozan said with a laugh.

Colorado native Derrick White said, "People (say) altitude and they're a good team. (It's) those two things together and they play really well there."

Head coach Gregg Popovich said, "Everybody wants to win every game if they can. Everything else is psycho-babble--means nothing, but (the media) will write about it and I understand. If I were in (the media) I'd write about all that bologna too, but it doesn't mean anything."

The one thing the Spurs have against the Denver Nuggets is playoff experience and the team will try and use that entering game one in Denver at 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.
