The City of San Antonio is dismissing a ticket issued to a woman who feeds the homeless.

Joan Cheever, director of The Chow Train, has been bringing free, restaurant-quality meals to the homeless at Maverick Park for several years.

In April, police cited her for serving food from her personal vehicle instead of the mobile food truck she has a permit to operate.

The city's Quality of Life Committee is now requesting that staff review San Antonio's regulations and policies on feeding the homeless.

Cheever released a statement saying:

"I am happy that the city of San Antonio heard from the PEOPLE of San Antonio that this ticket was ludicrous & outrageous. And I'm happy that it's dismissed. But the ordinance is still in effect & unless good Samaritans of San Antonio are also protected then the chow train will not stop our mission. Repeal the ordinance city of San Antonio. Please stop talking. Thank you to the community & supporters of The Chow Train. This is the first step. But there's a lot of work still to do on the part of the city. Thank you."

Cheever said she will pursue a federal civil suit if the city doesn't repeal the ordinance.
