Advertising for San Antonio's public transportation system will be managed by an Ohio company for the next five years, VIA Metropolitan Transit announced Monday.

The city awarded adsposure of Cincinnati a five-year contract to help its transit agency manage and implement its transit advertising program.

The advertising company will pay VIA $16.3 million for the use of the transit agency's buses and other spaces for ad display space. adsposure, in turn, will sell that advertising space to clients. The contract includes a renewal option.

In the release, adposure CEO Ken Black said: “San Antonio is an exciting new marketplace for our team at adsposure. Through our partnership with VIA, our team is excited to help the business community in the San Antonio area reach more consumers, and increase their sales, with the out-of-home advertising options that VIA has to offer."

The company said it aims to increase excitement in the San Antonio business community in advertising on the city's transit system.

The contract is the first in Texas for adposure, which specializes in transit advertising and has similar contracts in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
