Two individuals found dead inside of a Schertz home Wednesday night, were likely killed in a murder-suicide, police said Thursday.
An unwed couple, Eduardo Velazquez, 40, and Marcela Barrientos, 38, were both found dead from apparent knife wounds.
Officers were called to the home in the 400 block of River Road around 7 p.m. Wednesday for a welfare concern, after a woman found their two girls, ages 3 and 6, walking down the street at River Road and FM 78.
The girls told the neighbor that their parents were arguing when their father got a knife and stabbed their mother. Velazquez then allegedly turned the knife on himself.
With the assistance of a neighbor, officers were able to find the girls' home. Upon arrival, police found the bodies of Velazquez and Barrientos.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident. The children were released to the custody of immediate family members.
Police said the two also had a 13-year-old and 16-year-old who were not at home at the time of the incident.
