A benefit barbecue plate sell will be held Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Adkins, Texas, to benefit the families of the victims of the Sutherland Springs church shooting.

The benefit is hosted by the Smokin' Angels BBQ Ministry. Volunteers started setting up outside the church on Friday night and cooked all night long.

Neighbors say the show of support is helping them during this difficult time.

“It’s a pretty tough little town. I don’t think it will ever be the same, but I think it’ll do ok. I have lived here about 30 years. I think it will make a comeback, it’s just going to take a while to do it,” resident Gail Hilfiker said.

Organizers say they'll have pulled pork, brisket, chicken and sausage plates available while supplies last. Volunteers prepared an estimated 3,500 pounds of meat for the event.

Each plate will cost $10 and will come with all the fixings. St. Mark Lutheran Church will handle the funds and distribute them directly to the families of the victims.

The benefit runs Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran at 10595 US Hwy 87 S Adkins, Texas. About 2,000 people are expected at the barbecue.
