SAPD: Man shot for using the word 'bro'

Officers said the man's neighbor inquired about loud noise.

SAN ANTONIO - Offense to the word "bro" led to a man being shot on San Antonio's Northwest side early Friday morning.

San Antonio Police said a man in his 20s was arguing with his girlfriend in the 5000 block of Fredericksburg Rd. Officers said the man's neighbor inquired about the ruckus.

According to police at the scene, the victim exchanged words with his neighbor. During the volley of words, the man reportedly used the word "bro." Investigators said the neighbor became irate about being called bro by the victim. He shot the man in his leg just before 2 a.m.

Emergency crews rushed the victim to the hospital with a non-critical injury. Meantime, police took his neighbor into custody.

Police said the victim is a white man who was having a dispute with his African-American girlfriend. His neighbor, the shooting suspect, is an African-American man who faces a charge of aggravated assault with deadly weapon.
