Rain or shine: Celebrate 300 New Year's Eve festival preps underway

The event takes place New Year's Eve at Hemisfair Park and includes a fireworks show at midnight.

Celebrate 300 New Year's Eve will go on rain or shine, according to city officials.

The Tricentennial Commission, the City of San Antonio and Bexar County will closely monitor the weather conditions and make a contingency plan if necessary to guarantee the event goes as planned.

There is a chance of rain forecasted for Sunday night.

The event takes place New Year's Eve at Hemisfair Park and includes a fireworks show at midnight.

Modifications have been made to some of the features of the event in case of rain, including relocating the Ferris wheel to a firmer, street surface on Alamo Street.

Entrances to the event, VIA Park & Ride locations and rideshare pick-up and drop-off locations will remain the same regardless of weather. The concert lineup has not changed.

The stars hitting the stage include Little Joe y La Familia, REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar.
