SAN ANTONIO — One man was rushed to the hospital with a bullet wound after a barrage of shots filled the air in east San Antonio about 6 p.m.
Police officers on a routine traffic stop on Creekmoor Drive said they heard about 12 to 15 rounds fired. When they went looking for the source, they found the victim in a car one block away in the 5000 block of Hershey.
SAPD Sgt. Andrew Howard said, “We have one person shot in the lower extremity -- maybe the leg or buttocks area -- and it appears that a vehicle drove by his vehicle and as he sat in the vehicle, he took gunfire.”
The victim’s small sedan had a number of bullet holes. Howard said, “There are several rounds in the car on the driver’s side. I didn’t count them and it appears as if he was the only one in the car. He was the only one outside when we got here.”
Howard said, “We don’t have any suspects at this time other than a dark SUV or a dark truck that fled eastbound toward Semlinger Road.”
The name of the victim has not been released and the search for suspects continues.
