SAN ANTONIO — Officers responded to North Star Mall Sunday evening, a spokesperson from the San Antonio Police Department said.

According to Police Chief William McManus, Macy’s security was watching two men that were shoplifting. One person was handcuffed, but the other person pulled out a gun.

Someone saw the man pull and gun and ran through the mall shouting that someone had a gun. Police went store to store to make sure no one was hurt. All the stores went into lockdown.

There were no shots fired.

Police are calling this a theft in progress that turned into an aggravated robbery.

Security backed off after a gun was pulled, and the men ran away. One of the men fled while still wearing handcuffs, McManus said. The men are described as having light complexions, white or Hispanic, in their mid- to late twenties.
