SAN ANTONIO – In the future you could be assigned 726 as your San Antonio area code.

The North American Numbering Plan Administrator assigned 726 as the overlay area code for San Antonio’s 210. This action will affect almost all of Bexar County and small portions of Atascosa, Comal, Guadalupe, Medina and Wilson Counties.

Don’t worry, current 210 area code customers will keep their numbers. New customers to the area will be assigned either 210 or 726 area code. All customers will be required to dial 10 digits for all local calls and 11 digits for long distance.

The remaining 210 area code numbers available are said to last until early 2018. Customer education and network preparation is scheduled to begin this Sept.
