SAN ANTONIO — Local schools are taking part in Pearl Harbor memorials Friday to pay tribute to the thousands of lives lost that day.
Friday will mark 77 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii from Japan in 1941 that prompted the US to enter World War II.
Students and staff at Dorie Elementary in the San Antonio ISD are welcoming service members for a ceremony with musical performances and readings.
The school is named after Dorie Miller, who helped defend the USS West Virginia during the Pearl Harbor attack.
The ceremony will be held at the school starting at 2:00 p.m. Friday.
