Research from Purdue University using a Gallup World Poll survey of 1.7 million people living in 164 countries found answers varied greatly across different regions of the world.
What research found is that emotional well being is often reached between $60,000 to $75,000 per year. Peak satisfaction is reached at $95,000.
What about anything over that $95,000 peak? Does happiness rise indefinitely? Purdue's research said not necessarily. According to the study, once your needs are met you may shift your focus to material gains and social comparisons which could actually lead to a lower well-being.
