Graduation about more than a diploma for one high school senior

Thousands of high school graduates earn their diplomas this week, and walking across the stage is especially meaningful for one senior at Health Careers High School.

The walk is about 20 feet long - a short distance with a big meaning for Morgan Coultress.

"It's a symbol of, you did it," she said. "Despite anything that you've gone through."

Morgan has been through a lot. The graduate lost her ability to walk almost exactly one year ago.

"Never in a million years did I think this would happen," she said.

Doctors couldn't explain why it happened, but they could help her - with therapy and rehabilitation. Last month, Morgan took her first steps in almost a year. The moment was captured in a cellphone video, which went viral. Morgan turned into an online sensation overnight.

But for her, it's not about the fame - or really, even the diploma. It's about a message much bigger than a piece of paper.

"There's hope out there," she said. "I know God is right there with me. He's gonna walk right there with me...I'm just glad that people can take away a beautiful message in all of this."

And as for after her big day? Morgan expects to take more steps - at Disney World for a family vacation.
