Family continues search for Scott Mayer

The 47-year-old had baseball practice that Wednesday evening, but never showed up. Scott's brother, Jeff, said his disappearance just doesn't make sense.

UPDATE: As the Mayer family continues its search, they are coordinating a search party Wednesday, May 9 at noon. They are meeting at the north end of the parking lot of the Walmart at 281/46 in Bulverde.

A San Antonio father and well-respected baseball coach has been missing for several days now, leaving the Mayer family heartbroken and worried. Missing Persons investigators with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office met with Scott's Mayer's wife and family early Monday morning. Right now, investigators are mapping out a plan to search and find the father of three.

Billy Centeno is hurting right now, because one of his role models is missing.

"Everybody is questioning, what, why, or how," he said. "People at first couldn't believe it. It was so out of character."

Mayer was off of work on May 2nd, when he last spoke to his wife earlier that afternoon. The 47-year-old had baseball practice that Wednesday evening, but never showed up. Scott's brother, Jeff, said his disappearance just doesn't make sense.

"He's at three places in life," Jeff said. "He's working at the two schools he is responsible for. He's home, or he's on these fields."

Over the weekend, baseball players huddled together to pray for the family. They're part of a top league Mayer started several years ago.

"We miss and we love you," Centeno said. "We need you. Now is the time that we need our general. We need our guy who steers the ship."

The family has been sharing updates on the 'Find Scott Mayer' Facebook page that has reached thousands.

"Scott, there are so many people that love you, that support you, and whatever is going on we are here to help you," Jeff said.

Mayer was last seen on Wednesday evening, May 2nd around the TPC Parkway area on the north side, near Highway 281. The 47-year-old man was driving a 2010 blue-grey Ford Escape.

The family said there are two distinct things to look for on the SUV: A Johnson High School Swimming Macey sticker is on the back windshield, as well as a UT logo near the license plate.

According to family and friends, Mayer is a staff member at Northeast ISD. He's an Instructional Technology Specialist and works at TEX Hill Middle School and Johnson High School. We're told he's also a baseball coach for the South Texas Sliders.

If you know anything about his disappearance, you are urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, (210)335-6000, or email missingpersons@bexar.org or a special number set up by the family, which is 210-709-3885.
