FORT WORTH, Texas — "Several fights" broke out after the North Crowley-Crowley basketball game outside of the school, according to a letter from Crowley ISD Superintendent Dr. Michael McFarland to parents

McFarland said in the letter they had a sellout crowd at the game Friday night, and the teams competed in their rivalry with great sportsmanship, but a "small group of individuals chose to engage in behavior that was unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Crowley ISD."

The superintendent said that several fights happened outside of North Crowley High School after the game, and school administrators, Crowley ISD police officers and Fort Worth police officers responded to end the fights and disperse the crowds.

"We are grateful for this collaboration and partnership, and we are thankful that no one was seriously injured and no weapons were involved," McFarland said in the letter.

According to the superintendent, the district is working with police to investigate the incident and will discipline all students involved to the "fullest extent possible."

"We will continue to review and improve our safety and security measures as we work together to keep our schools and community safe," the letter continued. "This event is not an indication of who we are, but we will learn from it. I ask for help from parents, educators and the entire community to reiterate to our children the expectations we have for appropriate behavior."

The Crowley Police Department told WFAA the incident was outside of their jurisdiction and directed contact to Fort Worth police. Fort Worth police told WFAA its officers assisted with the incident. Crowley ISD officials directed WFAA to the superintendent's letter to parents.
