Closures and delays in the City of Odessa and Ector County

These locations are being affected by a water line break in the area. A boil water notice has been put into effect for most of Ector County.

ECTOR COUNTY, Texas — A water line break at the intersection of 42nd Street and San Jacinto has led to a boil water notice for the City of Odessa and Ector County. 

At this time, it is unclear when the boil water notice will be lifted. There are also many people in the area with either very low water pressure or no water at all. 

Below is a list of businesses and offices affected by the water line break.

Thursday, June 16:

  • Medical Center Hospital ProCare clinics and Urgent Cares will be open. The hospital will be phasing in surgeries as well.
  • ECISD’s offices and schools will open on time. Summer Learning and Camp SIP will resume.

Wednesday, June 15:

  • ECISD schools and offices will be closed.
  • Medical Center hospital has canceled all surgeries and procedures. They hope to resume Thursday.
  • City of Odessa offices will be closed until 1 p.m.
  • All Ector County Offices will be closed.
  • Odessa YMCA Childcare Centers will be closed.
  • Odessa College will have a virtual half-day from 8 a.m. to noon. During that time, employees and students will work and learn remotely. Employees will be expected to arrive on campus at 1 p.m. to finish the work day.
  • Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center will hold virtual classes. On-campus operations and clinics are postponed until 1 p.m.

Tuesday, June 14:

  • ECISD will be closed.
  • All Ector County Offices will be closed.
  • Odessa College will be closed.
  • All Medical Center Hospital clinics will be closed. The Emergency Department will still be open. All surgeries/procedures are cancelled on Tuesday as well as morning surgeries on Wednesday. Afternoon surgeries are TBD.
  • All Complete Care Clinics in Odessa will be closed. The Emergency Department will still be open. 
  • UTPB employees will start to work remotely at 10:00 a.m. Online classes will stay the same, but all in-person classes have been canceled. 
  • City of Odessa offices will be closed.
  • City of Odessa pools and aquatic centers will be closed.
