Bexar County Deputy Fire Marshals arrest woman suspected of arson

Linda Cirlos, 33, faces two charges of second degree felony arson and one count of felony burglary.

A woman accused of setting two fires in Converse on Monday morning has been arrested, a spokesperson from the Office of the Bexar County Manager said.

According to a press release, Linda Cirlos, 33, was arrested on two charges of second degree felony arson and one count of felony burglary of a building.

Cirlos allegedly broke into a tool shed Monday morning and set it on fire, then setting a second fire in an open field on an adjacent property. The Converse Fire Department extinguished the fires early Monday morning.

Witnesses gave investigators a description of the suspect, who was found a short distance away. County investigators obtained surveillance footage showing the woman approaching several residences in the area with a lighter in her hands, according to a report.

"Arson is a serious felony and poses a significant threat to our communities, especially when occupied residences are targeted," Bexar County Fire Marshal Chris Lopez said. "We are happy to partner with the Converse Police Department to identify and apprehend this dangerous felon."

Cirlos was taken into custody, where she confessed to starting the fires. Her bond was set at $40,000.
