Awards dinner recognizes outstanding fathers

Former prisoners and a divorcee were among the dads recognized at Thursday's Fatherhood Jubilee awards.

San Antonio — The 100 Black Men of San Antonio Inc. held its third annual Fatherhood Jubilee Awards Thursday night on the northwest side.

The awards dinner recognized outstanding fathers for their commitment to their family and community before Father’s Day, according to a press release.

Among the men the “100” honored are two former prisoners who turned their lives around to support their families, a divorcee who has custody of his three sons and has been invited to the White House, a wellness champion who mentors other fathers, a minister whose plea for prayer went viral after his wife and daughter nearly died in the delivery room and a grandpa who put the bottle down to become an amazing grandfather.

The program is funded in part by by Spurs Sports and Entertainment, Security Service Federal Credit Union and Wittigs Office Interiors.

The “100” believes if you can change a father, you can change a family.
