UPDATE: The bulldogs have been found. In a statement posted to the Lone Star Bulldog Club Facebook page, the owners say the dogs were returned to them at 2 AM Wednesday morning. According to the owners, the burglar had tried to sell the dogs through Instagram.

Justin and Crystale Gellman call their bulldogs their children, since they’ve had trouble having their own.

“They took the crates and everything, they just picked them both up, put them in the truck and drove off,” said Crystale of the break-in that resulted in her two French bulldogs being stolen.

Nugget and Bruce require special attention. Bruce is blind and can barely walk.

“We have medicine that he has to get every day. He needs eye drops or else he’ll lose the eyesight he does have," Justin said.

The couple’s security camera captured a still image of the thief in action.

The couple’s belongings were still scattered where the thief left them. He took electronics and firearms, but the Gellman’s say that those things can be replaced.

Also gone, the remains of their third dog, which the thief stumbled upon and scattered across the room on his way out.

“In the middle of losing two dogs, we came home and had to sweep the remains of our third dog off of our coffee table and off of the floor,” Crystale said.

The couple wants the community to keep an eye out for their dogs.

“With their health needs, and my fear is if someone finds out you can’t breed them and there’s no use to them, they’re going to hurt them or just dump them somewhere,” Crystale said.

If you have any information or happen to see Bruce and Nugget, or recognize the thief, contact San Antonio police.
