SAN ANTONIO – One local bar and grill notorious for its cool ways to entertain guests has begun offering complimentary coloring books.

But these aren’t your kids’ coloring books.

The Hangar, located at 8203 Broadway, places a basket on each table with a variety of adult-themed coloring books. These books’ pages range from sexy cartoons to curse words. Coloring pencils are provided along with an old school pencil sharpener that is permanently installed along the bar’s wall.

Coloring is not only fun, but relaxing and can relieve stress, depression, and anxiety. It’s science.

Kelly Fitzpatrick recently published an article on CNN.com on why coloring books are good for people. She reported that research in 2005 proved anxiety levels dropped when the subjects colored mandalas or found frames with patterns inside.

The hangar has seen an influx of customers since handing out the coloring books and it’s rewarding customers who color with them. Customers have the opportunity to win a $25 gift certificate each week.

To enter all one has to do is go in, sit down and color. When you’re done with your creation, turn it into the bartender for a chance to win. The most creative page at the end of the week wins.

The Hangar is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. serving a full bar and food menu.
