Inmate mistakenly released from Bexar County jail

Officials say the man's charges were dropped in Bexar County, but he was supposed to be held on charges in another county.

SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County Sheriff's Department says an inmate who was supposed to be held in jail was mistakenly released.

Andrew Taylor Ford, 32, was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on December 28 on a charge of failure to stop and give information.

The charge was apparently dismissed in County Court 6 on January 3, and Ford was released. But, there was an order to hold him for San Patricio County, which was overlooked.

Ford reportedly surrendered to his his probation officer on January 11 and is now in custody in San Patricio County.

Bexar County Sheriff's Department says it is looking into making changes to booking procedures after this mistaken release.
