Three vehicle accident on Rigsby

SAN ANTONIO -- A case of mis-identification of a vehicle unfortunately led to an accident that sent three people to the hospital.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, police saw a truck speeding downtown near Hackberry and Commerce Street. Police thought that the truck, heading southbound on Hackberry, was a vehicle that they'd been searching for related to another case. When they realized that they had the wrong vehicle, police turned off their lights and ceased the chase near Whittier, but the truck kept going.

SAPD says that the truck continued to travel at high speed and collided with two other vehicles on Rigsby Avenue.

The driver of the truck was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to University Hospital in critical condition. Two passengers in one of the vehicles that was struck were taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, one of them was in critical condition. A fourth person in the other vehicle that was struck was taken to BAMC, but only as a precaution.
