Teen who robbed elderly man and struck him with car arrested, police say

The 17-year-old faces charges of aggravated robbery and marijuana possession.

SAN ANTONIO — A 17-year-old who allegedly took an elderly man’s vehicle and ran him over with it has been arrested, police said.

San Antonio Police arrested 17-year-old Johntavion Marquiess Souders in connection with an aggravated robbery of a 74-year-old man on Friday, May 3 at the Oak Manor Apartments on Austin Highway.

According to an affidavit, surveillance video showed the elderly man standing outside his vehicle when two men approached him. Police said Souders got in the drivers seat and the other man got in the passenger seat.

The victim ran to try to stop the theft, but police said Sounders reversed the car and struck him.

Witnesses helped police identify a suspect, and Souders was arrested less than three days after the incident.

He is being charged with aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana with a total bond of $21,600.
