Man killed in shooting on far west side after collision on Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO — A 39-year-old man was fatally shot on the far west side Monday afternoon, authorities said. The victim has since been identified as Ryan Thomas Wann.  

San Antonio Police Department officers responded to the scene along Loop 1604 near Ellison Drive around 4:30 p.m. First responders were seen using CPR to help the victim who was put into an ambulance.

According to SAPD, two men got into some sort of altercation on the other side of the highway after a collision. The suspect, a 59-year-old man, eventually pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the victim, police said.

The person who was shot had a relative who was a passenger in their vehicle.

The man suspected of shooting the victim was alone, police said. He was detained for questioning, and an investigation is underway.
