Man shot as alleged Facebook meet up goes wrong

The victim believed he was meeting two women. Instead, he arrived to find two men with guns waiting for him.

SAN ANTONIO — A man in his 20s was shot in the hand on the southeast side early this morning. 

The shooting occurred just after 4:30 a.m in the 200 block of Spruce Street. 

According to police, the victim, 22-year-old Manuel Perez, believed he was meeting up with two women he met through Facebook.

However, when he arrived, Perez found two men with guns waiting for him. 

Perez reportedly grabbed at the gun and was shot in the hand. It is believed that the bullet may have passed through his hand into his hip. 

After he was shot, Perez drove himself to the McDonald's along South New Braunfels Avenue and Drexel Avenue to call the police.

He was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition. 

Detectives are continuing their investigation. Perez was reportedly not very cooperative with police.
