Neighbors are in shock after Kerrville police say that a city councilman and his wife were found dead in their homes. Police say that the bodies of Gary and Peggy Stork were discovered after a close friend was checking in on them.
According to a press release from the Kerrville Police Department, they are investigating the incident as a possible murder-suicide.
Tanglewood Lane is normally a peaceful place, but on Saturday night it turned into a crime scene.
A woman who has lived there for 30 years didn't want to appear on camera, but she said that she was coming home from out of town when she got the news.
“[It’s] very shocking because we live in a quiet neighborhood,” she said.
Just a few doors down, police say Kerrville Place 3 Councilman Gary Stork and his wife Peggy were found with gun shots to the head.
It's not clear what exactly happened but police said that the two had been dead for 24 hours when they found the bodies.
The neighbor we spoke with said that Councilman Stork had recently changed his look, much different than the images that can be found on social media.
“From a clean-cut appearance to an appearance that was a little more disheveled for him,” she said. “It was noticeable.”
She said that Stork and his wife lived in the home for at least eight years and that they were friendly as Stork was a real estate agent who helped his community.
“They have fixed houses up, so we’ve enjoyed watching that,” the neighbor said. “So they’ve really added to our neighborhood.”
Police say that a gun was recovered at the scene and that Councilman Stork was under investigation for a charge of indecency with a child.
Stork’s case was scheduled to be presented to the 198th grand jury in two days.
Police noted that there is no threat to the community.
