A search by local authorities for a fugitive with several outstanding warrants came to an end Thursday afternoon with a wreck and a man in handcuffs.
Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service say the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Department of Public Safety were a tracking by air a vehicle that had left a Converse location associated with John Anthony Escobedo.
As officers worked to near the vehicle on the road, "Escobedo wrecked into another vehicle prior to their arrival" on SE Military Drive near Bardwell, according to authorities.
He was arrested when officers arrived on the scene, and was taken into custody on various charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct with a firearm and violation of a protective order.
No one was injured in the crash.
