Former San Antonio teacher arrested for child porn possession

60-year-old Neil McGinnis taught grade at Ridgeview Elementary for 10 years before retiring this year. He has been charged with possessing ten images of child pornography.

KENDALL COUNTY, Tex. — A former elementary school teacher has been charged for possessing several images of child pornography, Kendall Country District Attorney Nicole S. Bishop says.

According to a written release, 60-year-old Neil McGinnis retired this year after working as a third-grade teacher at Ridgeview Elementary in San Antonio's North East Independent School District. He had been an employee of the school for the past 10 years, and had spent over 25 years as a school teacher throughout Texas.

McGinnis was in possession of ten images of child pornography, according to the charges filed by Bishop. The images were discovered Wednesday during an investigation by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office along with the Texas Office of Attorney General's Child Exploitation Unit. According to the release from Kendall County, the joint investigation was executing a search warrant at McGinnis's home, where they arrested the man.

McGinnis is currently being held in the Kendall County jail; his bail has been set at $1,000,000. The District Attorney says that possession of each image is a third-degree felony and carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.

The District Attorney's Office says that they believe McGinnis may have abused other children. They are asking anyone who may have been a victim to contact their office at (830) 249-9343 or by email at CDA@co.kendall.tx.us.
