SAN ANTONIO — With the weather warming up and the city preparing to open its swimming pools for the summer, the parks and recreation department is also readying to offer swimming lessons.

Once again, beginning Saturday at 9 a.m., San Antonians will have a chance to register for free swimming lessons, which city officials say benefited 2,000 people in 2018. Drowning is one of the leading causes of death for teen and kids younger than 15, so it's as good a time as ever for the young members of your family to learn valuable, potentially life-saving skills.

"Let's Swim SA" will be leading different sessions for adults and youth at beginner and more intermediate levels of experience. No worries if your summer schedule will be a bit restrictive; the three two-week courses – with classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – will be offered both in the morning and evening.

The sessions will be held during the following dates:

  • June 25 to July 4
  • July 9 to July 18
  • July 23 to August 1
