SAN ANTONIO — The statewide gas price average in Texas is up to $2.62 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to AAA Texas.
While that price is the same as it was last week, it is two cents more than it was on this same day last year.
When 2019 started, drivers in the Lone Star State were paying less than two dollars a gallon but prices have since jumped up by 68 cents.
In order to keep up with the change, American drivers will have to work 22% longer than they did at the start of the year to buy one gallon of regular unleaded fuel.
Drivers in Midland are paying the most on average at $2.77 while drivers in San Antonio are paying the least at $2.48 per gallon.
