BCSO: Woman arrested for allegedly targeting veterans in her care in fraudulent scheme

The suspect allegedly stole credit cards from multiple military veterans, and opened accounts in their name.

SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County deputies say five elderly military veterans, who range in age from 86 to 94, were targeted in a fraudulent scheme carried out by their maid, according to court documents.

Authorities say Elisa Rubio faces 10 charges, including credit card abuse of the elderly, after an affidavit states she targeted residents at the Blue Skies of Texas, a military retirement community.

The affidavit states Rubio, 32, used the victims' existing credit card and checking account information to pay her own bills, including car payments and utility bills.

Rubio's bonds total $100,000 and jail officials say she was able to post that bond this afternoon and secure her release.
