Tesla hiring for over 300 open positions in Austin

The company had 315 jobs posted on its website on Monday, Sept. 27, for its Gigafactory.

AUSTIN, Texas — Tesla is on a hiring spree in Austin. The company had 315 jobs posted on its website on Monday, Sept. 27.

Tesla announced it was building a “Gigafactory” in southeastern Travis County in July 2020. The factory is set to employee 5,000 people with annual wages starting at $35,000.

The open positions include manufacturing, construction, engineering and design jobs. It is likely that each separate posting represents multiple job opportunities, according to a report from the Austin Business Journal.

Ed Latson, executive director at Austin Regional Manufacturers Association, told the ABJ that, more than likely, more jobs are coming when the Tesla plant begins production. The Gigafactory is set to begin production by the end of 2021.

The factory is being built off Texas 130 and Harold Green Road. It is a 2,100-acre property. Tesla released four photos as a construction update in July. Construction on the factory started in July of 2020.

Tesla is planning to use the Gigafactory to produce its Cybertruck electric pickup and its Model Y SUV.

Elon Musk, Tesla’ s CEO, was also hiring at his tunneling startup The Boring Company. The Boring Co. is developing properties in both Pflugerville and Bastrop

Neuralink, another one of Musk’s businesses, posted five job openings in Austin in April.
