Made in S.A.: Choicolate Artisan Chocolates

A woman's dream of owning a business sends her deep diving into all things chocolate.

SAN ANTONIO — At Choicolate Artisan Chocolates, every so often, you may hear singing coming from the back kitchen.

For most the words may be hard to understand, but for owner and chocolatier Krastina Reynolds, it's a familiar song.

"I'm a singer, a Bulgarian Folk singer," Krastina Reynolds said.

These days, she makes tempering chocolate look easy.

However, six years ago it was as foreign to her as those lyrics are to us.

"I never made chocolates In my life," Reynolds said.

Reynolds met her husband while he was stationed with the army overseas.

The two married, then moved to San Antonio in 2010.

Reynolds always dreamed of owning a her own business.

"I found a business for sale, a chocolate business,"Reynolds said. "We emailed the broker and three months alter we owned the business."

Without any hesitation Reynolds got  a crash course on all things chocolate.

"They train me and I know that I can do it,"Reynolds said.

Looking at each decadent piece of goodness that's dipped then decorated by hand you'd never know that she hasn't done this all her life.

"Even though I make it again and again,  I love it," Reynolds said.  Calming, it's a therapy for me."

But what she loves even more is meeting those who enjoy her artisan chocolates.

"First I like people, I like to work with people, I like to meet people it's amazing how people are so different," Reynolds said.

Just as her music once brought people together, now her chocolates are doing the same.

"It makes me happy to know they like it," Reynolds said. "When people are happy, I am happy."
