'Pan de Muerto' serves as Día de los Muertos tradition

La Panadería said Pan de Muerto represents lost loved ones and is part of commemorating Día de los Muertos, which begins Wednesday.

SAN ANTONIO - La Panadería gave KENS 5 a behind-the-scenes look into the making of Pan de Muerto, or the "bread of the dead."

It is part of traditional Día de los Muertos celebrations.

On the annual holiday, many commemorate the memories of loved ones who have passed away. A co-owner of the bakery said the bread also represents the bones of those we have lost.

La Panadería makes its Pan de Muerto with an "essence of orange" flavor.

Día de los Muertos will be celebrated Wednesday and Thursday.
