SAN ANTONIO — Featuring a crown on top to represent the achievement of thousands of volunteers, the 2019 NIOSA Fiesta medal was unveiled Wednesday.
Officials from A Night In Old San Antonio and the San Antonio Conservation Society held a private reception to show off the medal, which is now available online for $12.
NIOSA occurs April 23-26, 2019, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. nightly during the city’s Fiesta San Antonio celebration.
The medal concept was designed by the NIOSA team; the inspiration for the medal came from NIOSA chairman Margie Arnold’s desire to pay homage to NIOSA’s volunteers.
“The crown represents the crowning achievement of 10,000+ volunteers’ hard work to make NIOSA the country’s largest fundraiser for historic preservation,” Arnold said in a release. “The crystal center is the sparkle in everyone’s eyes as they rush through the gates each night to grab their favorite NIOSA delectable. When the crystal is moved aside, a red heart is revealed which represents each and every volunteer and the love we have for NIOSA and good it does for historic preservation through the Conservation Society.”
You can buy the new medal for $12 or purchase a $30 bundle that includes the 2019 medal, the 2018 NIOSA medal, and the 2018 70th Anniversary Commemorative Medal, which was not sold to the public last year.
